HI Guys, I just wanted to congradulate you on your long ride, I only wish I could do something like that. I am an avid snowmobilier and enjoy it very much, each year we also do alot of charity runs and I would just like to say that I think all snowmobile club in Canada and in the US should have charity runs every year. I also think that there should definitly be more news coverage on all the charity work snowmobliers do every year. Well I think that is about it. I think the three of you have tons of courage and I hope you decide to do your run again next year you might be surprised to see that alot of people would like to join you Best of luck Tina

Hi Guys. Just wondering if you made it home safely. We were travelling behind you by one day, you had just left Roblin Manitoba when we arrived. We only travelled 2000 miles which was just a good spit compared to your trip . Hope you enjoyed our western hospitality. Sounds like a great ride to tell your grandchildren. Good luck on any future rides.

Hi Guys! What a trip!! I just read about your trip in "SnowGoer" and found it very interesting. What caught my eye is the machines you 3 used for your trip (2000 Polaris Trail Tourings). I just bought an identical machine last week, and is good to know that they are a very durable and dependable snowmobile. I should get a lot of good use out of mine, although, don't think I'll get to Alaska on it. Great job and a very good story!! I just printed out your complete "day-by-day" account. Thanks.

To: Mike O., Kirk S., and Mike M. After all the ribbing I took from Kirk last Saturday night for my numerous e-mails, I can't let Cheryl St.Peter have the last word. heh heh. Thanks Kirk for the excellent update on the last leg of your journey. Even though I was not on the trip with you for those 29 days, it certainly felt like I was there in spirit every minute, every day. You three have inspired all of us that have followed your 29 day journey to dream, accept is as a challenge, and make it become reality. Most of all, you taught us to give back to this world something in return for everything God has given us. In your case, it was to help the children at the Pine Tree Burn Center and Camp for Handicapped children. Finally, thanks for creating the community spirit and pride associated with your journey. May it continue.

Many thanks to everyone that helped make this dream a reality. I thank God for the people that stood behind us to help make this dream come true. This trip was an adventure of a lifetime, I am so fortunate to have so many people supporting us as we travelled 6000 miles. I thank God for all of you. My family and I wish to thank WCXU and Dave Bell for their coverage of this adventure, you brought it home guys, you helped to close the gap, while we were closing the miles between us, you brought us to them each and everyday, without your support, I am sure it would have been much more difficult to be away from them. My family has made so many life long friends, the St.Peters and McCarthys, are terrific families, and we thank you for your support of our family. To my family, my friends, and everyone who sent the daily emails, YOU made this adventure possible. Thanks from my heart! It is my honor, and my pleasure to have been riding for such great charities, children are our future, and we need to put them first and educate them, I was honored to be riding for them. Thanks for the dream come true. Hillcrest, Three cheers, you know how to throw a great party, it was the perfect ending to our journey, to see so many faces of the people that supported us. If I have missed anyone, please know.......you were thought of in the 6000 miles I had to recollect each day. Thanks for the memories I will have for the rest of my life. Mike Ouellette and family.

Thank God for putting angels on this earth, to watch over those who are willing to sacrifice themselves for the sake of others. Be well, and remember to thank your women and children, family and friends for standing beside you. You have taught many people that reaching for a dream is not impossible, and in doing so, you three and your faithful bystanders have helped so many others. Children, who just want to be children, will imprint laughter and smiles in your hearts, and the hearts of those who gave so willingly. Thank You, for riding safe, for the excellent web page, and for touching the lives many... who, because of you... dare to dream. God bless you all.

Had to write in one last time (maybe) for three reasons: (1) to wish a HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY to Kathy and Mike O. and to Sue and Mike M. I can only think of one other couple that's as happy to be together today! (2) to let you know that Kirk has written the latest update from MKM describing their last two days "on the trail", their welcome home on Friday, and the "Celebration and Dance" on Saturday night - it should get posted soon. (3) To say a huge THANK YOU!! to everyone involved in the great welcome home on Friday and the fun party on Saturday night! Both of these events will long be remembered by those of us who were there!!

Just wanna say what a joy it was to stand out in the backyard and watch the three of you ride down Sweden Street, side by side, holding the flag from Alaska. Yep...I was waving my arms in the air as you rode by...with a great many tears in my eyes! Dean-na videotaped you riding by the house. And, Bob was there at County Sports, along with lots of other peoples, to welcome you home. We'll see you guys tomorrow. Now it's time for you to rest and relax and enjoy the company of family and friends! I'll echoe the sentiment of others here...please keep this webpage going...we'll want to hear more about the excursion, and everyone (especially everyone from away who isn't able to be here ) will want to hear about your home-coming, and the celebration!!! Well...these are my thoughts for tonight. Toodles! Deb....:)

CONGRATULATIONS to you all for a wonderful journey that you allowed us to participate in--even if some of us wore shorts and tank tops. You have earned a place in snowmobile history, and gave the people of Aroostook County something to talk about for years to come. Wish we could be there to help welcome you home, but want you to know that our thoughts are with you. Be sure to complete the journey on the webpage, so we will all know how the last couple of days went and, of course, how the Welcome Home Festivities went. Again, CONGRATULATIONS! CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Mike O., Kirk and Mike M. Tried to time this with your arrival home. As everyone knows Alaska was connected to the lower 48 states by air, car, pickup RV and boat. But is this the first time by sno-sled? If it is what a great place to end a 6,000 mi. adventure. The most Northeast city in the continental U.S., CARIBOU, MAINE which lies in the largest County East of the Mississippi River, and the prettiest state in the union. I'm sure there are plenty of stories to tell everyone about your adventure. I know there are three families that are glad to see you home safe and sound. We will talk to you soon. Again CONGRATULATIONS AND WELCOME HOME. Steven, Carole, Matt and Aaron Doody

Thank you for showing the rest of the world snowmobilers aren't all bad and to teach everyone that sacrafice isn't all that bad to help a good cause.

It is unbelievable that what seems like not that long ago we were riding down the river with you fellas and now you are home and have covered an incredible distance unassisted by major sponsors, what an incredible thing to accomplish. We got a call this morning to guide another small group through Bonnyville to Lac la Biche today, they are going the other way and want to end in the Yukon. I hope we can get the support we need to make the trail better for everyone that wants to attempt a ride like this but you three are now considered pioneers and are helping each club along the way to improve there trails and make it easier and safer for all of us. Do you desrve national attention? you bet you do and I hope you get lots of it. I imagine evryone in Caribou is busting with pride and it is well deserved, wish I could be there for the party to congratulate you guys but this is it Congatulations, what an incredible trip. As I look to the Northwest this morning I see a swirling cloud of white. Riding atop the cloud, streaks of black and blue, possibly from injuries but more likely the spirit of Polaris and the men who ride them. High on the adventure of a lifetime, traveling a route no man has traveled before. An adventure guided by a machine and prayer. You’ve seen the Majestic Mountains of the Northwest, the great Canadian plains, and enjoyed the company and excitement of our caring neighbors to the north. Tomorrow you will begin your decent into reality, and the love of families and friends. Your memories will be with you forever, as well as for those of us who have followed your adventure from the beginning. May your decent be gradual and your landing smooth.

Dear Mike, Mike and Kirk: I just cannot think of the words to express my feelings right now. Being away from home was not easy for either of you. You set your sights on a goal and you have accomplished it. In doing so you have also helped the recipients of two outstanding charities. There are so many people to thank for helping all of us during this journey. I would like to thank WCXU and Dave Bell for bringing this all together, without their help this ride would have to have been entirely word of mouth. I express my sincere gratitude to them. I would like to thank all of the gracious people that you met along the way, their kindness has made this a wonderful experience for you three. Mike McCarthy and Kirk, thanks so much for taking this trip with Mike. What wonderful friends you are. I am very proud of all of you, I thank God for bringing you three home safely. Alot of prayers have been answered. Kathy

Good day Gents, what can I say to you guys that the hundreds of e-mails here haven't already said. What you are doing for your charities is totally and truely kind hearted. The folks on the other end the charity line (kids) are the ones who will benefit the most from your accomplishment. 10 years from now when we have put this trip of yours in some distant space in our minds, some child who received help at his time of need because of money you guys donated WON`T forget. So for every yes-man and every microinch of skin exposed to that extreme weather, (I can relate being a sledder), keep pushing for the "County" and those Kids!!!! Have a safe trip and we'll see you guys in the Crown of Maine and remember that "for every mile of trail, theres two miles of ditch!" So ride hard but ride safe!!

HI M&M and K Well I followed your journey faithfully. It's hard to believe you guys are almost here. Although your not quite back yet I do want to say WELCOME HOME!! Because I know once the Hollywood Producers get a hold of you three. Your families won't be seeing to much of you. I thought I'd make a suggestion that Dave keeps this guestbook running so your family and friends can follow your Hollywood Journey. Its amazing what this trip has done for a lot of people. Most importantly the charities you rode for, then of course you guys for full filling your CRAZY DREAM. (So everyone thought until they followed your journey and became envious.)Its even helped people learn how to use the internet for the first time. (Now their all addicted!!) Its even made a lot people want to go back to school.(just for a quick class on spelling, I heard John M.is still trying to find the spellcheck on his e-mail)and of course its brought a lot of family and friends together. I think this list could go on and on and I know its probly your bedtime and Mike M. wants a bedtime story read to him, so drive safely your almost here. What an AWESOME Journey and yes I signed up for that spelling class also. Thanks to everyone who helped these three terrific guys along the way. See you all in a few days(That's if the bodyguards, WIVES will let us.)Take Care and drive safely!!

I will be traveling to the county this summer and hope to get a chance to meet the "Three Amigos". We've really enjoyed reading the posts from your families. It's plain to see that you guys have it made in a world that can be a bit crazy at times. Thanks for doing so much for the two charities and giving the rest of us a reason to say we're proud we were raised in "The County". Good luck for the future.

Just wanted to let all of you know that, more than likely, the last email messages the guys will be getting "on the trail" somewhere near Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, will be faxed to them later tonight. So..., if you have any final words of wisdom (or wit) to share with "MKM" BEFORE they get to Caribou on Friday (TGIF and TGIP!), now is your LAST chance! Also, I personally want to thank all of you for writing to them. And I want you to know how VERY MUCH it has meant to them, because it was the absolute truth when I wrote before that the FIRST thing Kirk says when he calls is, "Here is the number to fax us the new email messages." Second is, "How soon can you do it?" If they really did have Guardian Angels on this trip, then they flew on the words of support (and humor) sent by all of you in this Guestbook. Thank you everyone!

Hello Dear Brother Mike O. Well you guys are almost home and with no big problems, that's great. I just want to let you know Randy has finally parked the 800 back in your garage. Kathy did have to send out the Game Warden to find him and tell him he had better put it up now, you are getting close to home. So he has cleaned it all up and the snow has melted all off of it. You won't need to dust it off when you get back. OH he just told me he forgot to put oil and gas in it. SORRY. He said to tell you he really has enjoyed it and it's going to be hard to go back to the old 500 now. Well see you in a couple of days, love you. Kathy

JUST FINISHED READING YOUR LAST UPDATE AND FOR THE FIRST TIME DURING YOUR HAZARDOUS TRIP WE ARE CONCERNED ABOUT WHAT MIGHT BE THE AFTER EFFECT OF SUCH A LONG TRIP TOGETHER. AFTER READING THE LAST PARGRAPH THAT WARNED YOUR WIVES THAT YOU MIGHT AVE YOU MIGHT HAVE TO HAVE SLEEPOVERS AT EACH OTHERS HOMES ON WEEK ENDS FOR A WHILE, DEFINITLY SHOULD BE GROUNDS FOR CONCERN. AFTER THE EXPERIENCE OF BEING MARRIED FOR SIXTY THREE YEARS WE RECOMMEND TO YOUR WIVES THAT THEY INSIST YOU PARK YOUR SLEDS IMMEDIATELY, BOARD A PLANE AND FLY HOME FOR A WEEKS VACATION WITH THEM. AFTER A WEEK HOME FLY BACK, PICK UP YOUR BEATUP POLARISES AND THEN FINISH YOUR HISTORIC SNOWMOBILE TRIP. REGARDLESS OF WHAT DECISION YOU MAKE WE WISH YOU GOOD LUCK FOR THE REST OF YOUR TRIP AND AFTER YOU GET HOME. IM SURE WHEN YOU GET HOME AND SEE YOUR WIVES YOU WILL FORGET ALL ABOUT SLEEPOVERS ANYWHERE BUT HOME.

I heard you on the radio today say that the lodge served you bite size steak and veal. They must of known Mom wasn't there to cut it up for you. There's been alot of changes around here....especially in Mom's will. Mike who????? You should of stayed home. Looking forward to friday, see you then. Love, Ann

"A Continental Excursion"

Three silly guys from Caribou
all with half a brain
decided that they had to sled
from Alaska clear to Maine.

We're not sure what possesses them
they claim they're having fun
their thoughts could all be frozen
racing to the rising sun.

St.Peter wears blue underwear
Ouellette just wants to sleep
McCarthy is scared to ride alone
in snow that is too deep.

We hear them on the radio
we leave notes upon the net
they tell us all about their trip
in hopes we won't forget

they're riding for two charities
and before they're done their "dash"
they're hoping we can help them out
and pledge a little cash.

Now for the guys from Caribou
all joking set aside
we wish the best for their trip
and hope they've enjoyed the ride.

As of last night (Monday 2/7/00), of the communities responding to your guest book; seventy-nine were from Maine; Thirty-one were from the eight Canadian Provinces; the other one hundred thirteen were from thirty-five states and the District of Columbia. We are very proud of you three guys, not only for what you have done for yourselves, but what you have achieved for our community, THE COUNTY and Maine, and most importantly, the awakening to so many people of the charities you are working for, Pine Tree Camp and the Pine Tree Burn Foundation. You have lifted our spirits to a new level. Every attempt will be made to trap some of this enthusiasm and transfer it to our focus on the future. It is not easy to find the words to describe how many of us feel about you three people. The excitement has generated far beyond our community. We are looking forward to your being home safe. Well...I get really hyper when major events like when three local "boys" ride from Alaska back here to home...can ya' blame me for being this foolish!? And silly! Anywho...hehehe....I am very proud of the three of you AND very proud to live in the coolest place in the world...CARIBOU! What you three have done; taking on this major excursion and the raising of donations for these two important charities....what can I say? Well, much success to you on the remainder of your excursion;drive safely...you have LOTS of peoples here at home praying for ya'...and my own prayers thank God that " He has given His Angels charge over you..." ( Psalm 91:11 )God bless you all,and we continue to enjoy the updates on Channel X Radio...and love the pictures posted on this page...I especially loved the picture of the sunset behind the mountain....beautiful! Good morning, Mike O., Mike M. and Kirk, On behalf of everyone here at Pine Tree and the hundreds of Maine children and adults with disabilities who will benefit from your amazing trip, I'd like to extend our deepest thanks and appreciation. Friends like you have made PTC what it is today, and we are truly thankful for your kindness, compassion and dedication. We just wrapped up our annual PTC Snowmobile Ride-in in Newport this past weekend, and Assistant Camp Director Harvey Chesley and I made sure that everyone there (several hundred in attendance) were aware of your progress and the outstanding amount of pledges you have tallied for our campers. Most of the people we spoke with -- at least those with Net connection -- have been following your progress and were aware of how well the trip is going, and all of the folks we spoke with said to wish you a very safe trip home. Thanks again for supporting the many families we serve through Pine Tree Camp. Your friendship will have a huge impact in many lives when we open our doors for the season in June. Take care and God bless! John

Kirk The girls and I have followed you every bump and ditch along the way. Your daily updates have been great and I feel apart of me has been on this super ride with you. I have kept a folder at work with all the updates and showed as many customers as possible.(While I try to close the sale!) But enough of this mushy stuff. I have a few concerns about this ride that I can't hold back any longer. First- GO EASY on my sled! The boys will be up the first weekend in March and I want my sled in one piece! Second- I thought you said you county boys knew how to ride. (150 to 200 miles a day?)Us southern boys would have that in by lunch. Third- Thank Michelle for the wonderful party at your place! I told her the Beta Boys could fit 14 people in your HOT TUB! Don't worry, Bob has the new windows on order and I'LL take care of the carpets! We will be back so have her invite all her friends up to camp FIRST WEEKEND IN MARCH! Sure hope you are back by then cause there is no stopping us now. IF NOT, CHERYL will make a great hostess!! (I won't even mention that she has been without her husband for a month and you know the BETA BOYS and loney woman!) So I would suggest that you get out of the hot tub and do some real riding. Fourth- I'm a little concerned that you are not being totally honest with your readers. As your former fraternity roommate, I have been carefully reading between the lines of your updates and I feel I should inform your readers what really is going on with your trip. For instance, during the first couple of days of the trip you let it slip that you didn't get up till 10:00 o'clock. To me that means there was one heck of a party the night before and we as readers demand details!!!! I would like to continue my disecting of your updates but my wife and daughters asked me not to embarrass their family anymore. Last (My daughters want their computer back) We do wish you the best of luck on the rest of your journey and can't wait to hear all the stories when you get back. Don't forget to rest up cause when the southern boys come up, we are going to take you for a real ride! (not some little 6000 mile stroll in the park.) See you in a couple of weeks. -KAI- 1142

I got a hot date! i need some wheels, the backhow will do! guess what will happen? You will say NO! then you get the puppy face, start to give in, then Kathey come running in saying that you better give it to them, how could not! To the three "amigos": I must admit that checking in on your travels has become somewhat of an addiction. The "luxury" suite at the Boundary Lodge picture is a hoot. Nothing like sleeping next to a 100lb. gas cylinder to make you rest easy. That place looks more like the "Chateau de Bring Your Own Wallboard" or the hunting camp of the Owens-Corning Pink Panther or last but not least, my first dorm room at NMVTI after a long weekend. Good luck in the home stretch, wish I could be there for the big parade. Oh, one last note, picked up a National Enquirer and the front page had a pic of you three with headline: Aroostook County Snowmobilers on Epic 6000 Mile Voyage find Elvis at Great Slave Lake, Thousands of Impersonators Flock to Canada to Pay Homage to the King I knew it was a false story (one of the few) as they had you guys sitting on Ski-Doos!!!!!

Kirk, Mike and Mike- We're all getting anxious to get you boys back home again and hear all of your new stories (fact and fiction). The strangest thing happened to me the other day. I saw three guys who looked like you three comming out of a bar in South Portland with some drunk lady. The funny thing is they all took off running when they saw me! You are in Canada right? Right? Well, maybe I shouldn't of mentioned it. Anyway, I doubt if anyone realy reads these messages. I'm happy to read that everyone seems helpfull and taking good care of you three. Look, I don't want to get too sentimental due to your probable emotional states at this stage of the journey but, honestly, I couldn't think of better representatives of our county than you three. I'm sure everyone you've encountered have been impressed with your sincere friendliness. Thanks for spreading Aroostook county honesty and goodness across Canada. Geez, I hope all that doesn't add snifling to all the other sounds you have to listen too when sleeping in the same rooms for such a long time. I'm sure there's been some beer assited sounds you'de rather forget. Looking forward to your return. Mike O. - the Woodland Community Center is alive again so don't get too worn from this trip. Take care. Al

Hi guys; Sounds like things are under control. Have you been practicing your French? I hear the trails in Quebec are some of the finest in Canada. Take a few mental notes and let us know. The Caribou Snowmobile Club hosted a hotdog roast today at Gerald Ouellette's potato house. The proceeds will help the VICA students attend regional and national skills competitions. The weather was great except for some white-out conditions around noon. Mike M. I had to use the phone at your place after the roast. The weather was so nice I thought I would go for a short ride but my sled had other ideas. Just as I was crossing the road the two front drive sprockets shattered. I thought sure I had broken a chain until I looked back at all the plastic in the street. It's still there so be careful driving home. Reg came to the rescue and we'll have it back on the trail soon. Hope the trip continues smoothly and the pledges keep coming. See you soon.

It's PLOYES, with real butter and floating in maple syrup. Not only smells good but delicious. You will need a pot of HOT coffee with real sweet cream, cafe au lait. Now thats gourmet. Also, hot chocolate donuts, rolled in sugar are good, but ployes are the best. Keep up the great work. Be safe & may God bless. Love, Aunt Darl & Uncle Bob
